JUST A SOUND
DOC 234—34/2
Our goals is to explore the differences and similarities of languages. But to also show the complexity of cross-cutural communication and the presence of it around us.
How od you perceive other languages based on their rhythm, speed, volume and tine? Or when is a language so incomprehensible, it becomes “Just A Sound” for you?
Eight individuals talk, each in their own languages (Dutch, Korean, Turkish, Latvian and Vietnamese), about a saying that’s typically used in their native country. One that cannot easily be translated or uused in a different country.
All individuals try to repeat the different sayings in (for them) foreign languages. Videos start overlapping, causing words to morph into each other, creating a chaotic visual, full of voices trying to be understood.
